Old Sylvan Roster

We Sylvan is a clan made up of a multitude of backgrounds.  Alignment means little to us, yet many memebrs would be considered some form of "chaotic", and all races, classes, and sexes are accepted - Sylvan prides itself on its diversity.  Most members joined because they felt it was the place they wanted to be, although some are those who can't, won't, or simply don't want to fit elsewhere.  The clan, however, has an underlying ideal that holds true for all members.  All Sylvan feel a strong loyalty to one another and to the clan as a whole - we are true brethren.

Sylvan members' lives are multifaceted.  Overall, we enjoy living in luxury.  We only obtain the best of whatever it is we're after: second best will never do.  Most of us also have a strong thirst for knowledge.  We frequently know what is the best equipment and where to get it, and the locations which certain beings frequent.  Armed with our personal talents and vast knowledge of the world, we Sylvan will perform tasks for others for payment.  At times, the entire clan can even be hired to assist in a war or contest, but this is always temporary, and today's ally may become tomorrow's enemy.

When not gaining knowledge or selling services, most of the rest of a Sylvan member's life is spent however he desires.  One favorite pastime is creating mischief.  Whether leading unsuspecting victims to their death, turning friends against one another, or creating turmoil within other clans, a Sylvan member often finds amusement in creating chaos and discord throughout the land.  This pattern also holds true for the whole clan - in a war, we prefer to fight using subterfuge, espionage, and intelligence, rather than brute force.  This is a Sylvan choice.  We have some of the toughest people in the land in our clan, however, and we will prove it if necessary.

To be a part of Sylvan is to be a part of a brotherhood.  To be one of us is to be one of a family, and an attack on any member, even the youngest of recruits, will result in immediate and probably recurring retribution.  Our members hold one another in the highest regard, and although outside friendships and alliances are not discouraged, they are not considered the norm.  Other than selling services, we prefer not to involve ourselves in other people's or clans' business for it tends to get in the way of our own goals and ideals.  May/2003
