Gatulot's History and Ways

The word gauntlet is derived from the word gatulot, which means
fist or passage of pain. Gatulot is a clan that represents
both of the definitions well. We are known for our often savage
brutality when meting out retribution to those who would dare to offend our
brethren or the gods of magic.
We Gatulot follow the belief that the soul of a
sentient being is immortal: it passes, along with the wisdom and lifeforce
of a being, on to another incarnation. Thus, death is not to be
feared but respected and revered. We are dedicated to the pursuit of
knowledge and power, and are loyal above all else. Good and Evil mean
little to the us Gatulot
in the face of the true forces of nature and magic.
We Gatulot are usually druids, rangers or mages but come from all
walks of life. We have often been accused of being witches or
sorcerers who wrest power and blood from the innocent... we deny
nothing and admit nothing. Most important to the us is the continued
acquisition of power and knowledge of the magic arts. We protect our
rites and secrets and defend each other with near-religious fervor. 1994*1999
[When the world was young, it was, Kayal writes, a] world with few clans to protect the young traveler. There was Darkness and Rose, locked in their eternal struggle, and there was Gatulot, [the Adventurers from EAFD, the World clan, and some time later] the fun-loving but amoral Crimson Knights, and the Adventurers from EAFD... But the Clans were small and exclusive and full of larger than life heroes that struck fear into the heart of the young and weak. Names like Vestrivan [of Rose] and Chefcombo were bandied about at the fountain and it was a place to slip past quickly and quietly to avoid trouble. The Gods knew that the young needed protection, so an edict went out over the land: Thou shalt find a home; Thou shalt join a clan... [The clans eventually grew, except for EAFD, which was so chaotic it couldn't hold itself together, and Crimson, who were crushed by the gods they challenged.] When I [Zoracc] arrived here to Thera many years ago, much was different than it is today. The Gabreallic Ocean had yet to form, the Sea Of Sorrow likewise, and many of the regions of this land had yet to be discovered. There were only four clans, and far fewer immortals than in later days. The clans were functionally much different as well. These were the days of the Great War between the Rose/World alliance and Darkness. It was at this time that Darkness was at it's zenith of power. Behind Kronus' leadership (and Riddler before him), as well as with Wink taking a greater role in the clan's affairs, Darkness in those days was a MUCH more cohesive unit than at any time since... World was forced to ally with Rose, to keep the balance from totally shifting to the side of Evil, while Gatulot sat patiently, and awaited the outcome. This war certainly was what shaped the events of that day. No conflict since has been more meaningful. It was into this environment that I found myself upon my arrival at Thera... It was around that time that Ravane returned, and with his return we now had 5 leaders... trouble was bound to happen and it soon did. [Having stayed out of the war,] ... Gatulot had become very powerful, and ran wild unchecked. It was not long before we became a target of their power hungry attacks, a great quarrel ensued, and all the [World] leaders either left the clan, or simply disappeared. We were left in a great time of strife...
